Semester 2
Introduction to semesters 2 and 3
The 2nd and 3rd semesters feature certain core units which all students
take, but there is the opportunity to specialize in either a missions
or pastoral track. There are a range of units which you can choose from,
according to your specific practical needs and research interest.
In semesters 2 and 3, the student has the opportunity to specialize in
options which will direct her or him in either a pastoral or missions
track. Over the course of semesters 2 and 3, the pastoral track student
must complete 30 units from the pastoral units and 10 units from the missions
track. The mission track student must complete 30 units from the mission
units and 10 units from the pastoral track. In addition, each student
must complete all the core units for each semester.
The basic doctrines which you studied in the first semester [whatever
specific conclusions you have reached over them] will be the foundation
for the faith of not only yourself but for those you preach and minister
to. We're now in this semester beginning to move on from milk to meat,
as the Hebrew writer put it.
Some of the core unit material in the second and third semesters is designed
to give you a greater working familiarity with Biblical characters and
history. Whilst you likely know the basic material being studied, we're
going into it all in more depth because it is on the basis of well known
Biblical material that you will be able to teach and preach and minister
effectively. Likely much of the material and familiarity you build up
in the study of this material will be core material for your later pastoral
and missionary work.
You can do the core units and the mission / pastoral track units in any
order you like. In a traditional university, you'd likely have lectures
relating to the core units say in the morning, and the mission / pastoral
track units taught say in the afternoon. So you can likewise elect to
do the units in whatever order you like and submit the relevant course
work.
So best wishes, God bless, and your tutor will look forward to receiving
your course work!
